ALL FINGERS AND THUMBS

Well for the first time in my life (I am 36 now) I have managed to knit a scarf - I have gobsmacked myself.

Now from being a kiddie my mum always tried to show me how to knit, but I really was never interested, I preferred to play out with my mates on the street.

I bought a book called LEARN TO KNIT ages ago and never looked at it until Wednesday night when hubby was watching Arsenal on the telly and I was utterly bored with the footie. I found some yarn that I got ages ago to put on cards and never used it. I found some needles that my dad passed on to me when my mum died and hey ho last night (Friday) I finished my scarf.

I was so determined to get it finished last night and have it ready to wear to school this morning (I wanted to show off my handiwork). The best part in the book for me is 'HOW TO CAST OFF'. Its the one thing I never knew how to do - I knew how to cast on stitches (mum taught me that one) but I knew nothing about finishing the job. And it was so easy!

So on Saturday I am taking the little one so she can choose what colours she wants and i am going to knit her one.

SORRY TO GO ON BUT I AM REALLY CHUFFED!

Wow well done you!!! My mum was a knitter too, she did machine knitting lessons and I just couldn't get to grips with it!!
